2017 International Entrepreneurship Interns Scholarship

  Jacobs TIX Institute at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) welcomes young, aspiring entrepreneurs at both Technion/Israel Institute of Technology, and TAU/University of Tel Aviv (Israel) and NTHU/National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan) to apply for this international interns scholarship. The goal of this program is to support students who have the fervent desire to gain start-up knowledge and experiences by this global internship. Chinese language and culture courses will be arranged for Israeli interns according to need.


Benefit and Perk
For Israeli interns coming to Taiwan
• The scholarship for each intern is up to 150,000 NTD (18,000ILS), depending on the internship length.
• 1 on 1 Chinese learning mentor and cultural tours will be arranged.
• Visit various start-ups at the Center of Innovative Incubator at Tsing Hua University and Garage+ (Asia’s most thriving start-up community).

For Taiwanese interns going to Israel
• The scholarship for each intern is up to 150,000 NTD, depending on the internship length.


Internship length and opportunity
• Personalized internship plan: Contact the targeted corporation to make your own internship arrangement.
• The internship can be 1 to 3 months long, starting anytime from July to December 2017.
• For Israeli students, some internship opportunities at prominent Taiwanese Enterprise are recommended. The contact window information will be provided to the applicants who are interested.
o Giant Bicycles: the world’s leading and biggest provider of high-quality bicycles
o AsusTek Computer Inc.: the world’s 4th-largest PC vendor, Asia’s Top 10 IT Companies, 1st ranking in the IT Hardware
o Lite-On Technology Corporation: major player in optoelectronic components, and a global leader in digital converged devices
o Winbond Electronics Corporation: one of the biggest suppliers of semiconductor solutions worldwide
• Internships in NTHU’s incubator and research centers, the Hsinchu Science Park, at various national labs located in Hsinchu, and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) near NTHU are also possible. Please address in the application form what industry field and what kinds of work you are interested in. Help with arranging suitable internship opportunity will be provided. International interns, e.g., from Technion and TAU, can audit courses at NTHU, with prior approval by the course instructor. Such interns must register in order to take course for credits, following the provisions approved for exchange students.


Qualification
• For Technion and TAU students, who have a proposed project pertaining to a future start-up business or topic implementation, need to contact corporations, startup incubators or accelerators in Taiwan for 1-3 month internship arrangement.
• For NTHU students, who have a proposed project pertaining to a future start-up business or topic implementation, need to contact corporations, startup incubators or accelerators in Israel for 1-3 month internship arrangement.


Application process
1. All application materials must be submitted in PDF format to Miss Luo (youjieshih@gmail.com) by May 31, 2017. Application materials include:
a. Application form (Appendix I)
b. Proposal of a start-up project, including how you will search for opportunities and resources (within 4 pages, Appendix II)
c. Personal CV (within 2 pages)
d. Three recommendation letters (sent separately by the recommenders)
e. A photocopy of passport
2. Applications will be reviewed by an experienced panel, headed by the leader of TIX institute at Tsing Hua University. A notification for online interview will be sent to the applicants.
3.  Late applications will not be considered unless the intern position is not filled after the first review.
4. After completing the internship, the interns need to submit a final report, outlining the work and its effect upon their learning/proposed project.
